The Junior League of Martin County Kicks Off Its 27th Year!

The Junior League of Martin County is thrilled to kick-off its 27th year! The Junior Service League (JSL) of Martin County, Inc. was founded in the spring of 1992 with the purpose of providing an ongoing program of education to train volunteers and encourage leadership in community service. Beth Conway, Kim Deulemeester, and Suzanne Karr were the driving force behind the establishment of the organization. These three women – along with 22 dedicated volunteers – became the charter members to address the needs of our community through volunteer service. They provided the foundation for the Junior League of Martin County (JLMC) as we know it today. JSL became the Junior League of Martin County in our 1999-2000 year, joining the Association of Junior Leagues.

Since coming together as the JSL and eventually the JLMC, members have helped improve our community by volunteering and financially supporting: 4C’s, American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, Council On Aging, Department of Children & Families, ESE Program at Martin County High School, Florida Oceanographic Society, Gertrude Walden Child Care Center, Samaritan Center for Young Boys & Families, Habitat for Humanity, Hibiscus Children’s Center, Hobe Sound Boys & Girls Club, Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, House of Hope, Keep Martin Beautiful, Martin County Arts Council, Martin County Fire Rescue, Martin Health Systems, Moore Family Benefit, Mothers and Infants Striving for Success, PACE Center for Girls, Port Salerno Boys & Girls Club, Redeem The Shadows, Safe Space, Sailfest at Felix A. Williams, Stuart HRS, The Children’s Museum of the Treasure Coast, The Elliott Museum, Tykes & Teens, United Way White Dove Holiday Project, and Volunteers In Medicine.

We would love to start the year off by introducing our newly appointed board and chairs that will be leading the organization. Committee Chairs include Laura Baird, Jessica Barnett, Lauren Betsinger, Aleshia Coleman, Kathleen Dempsey, Keri Ann Gustafson, Emily Karr, Olivia Kirchman, Kira Libratore and Andrea McAvoy.
