STUART — For the fifth year in a row Zweben Law Group is partnering with United Way of Martin County on the Zweben Law Group Bike Drive to make the holidays extra special for local families who are struggling to make ends meet.

The goal of the month-long initiative is to raise enough money to cover the cost of 300 bikes to be given to children in need through United Way’s White Doves Holiday Project.

 

To launch the endeavor, more than 80 supporters attended the Zweben Law Group Bike Drive Kickoff Party at Twisted Tuna on Nov. 15.

Attendees mixed and mingled – and there were a few happy surprises throughout the evening, including large donations from Junior League of Martin County, Martin Health System, Whole Body Performance and Fitness and Treasure Coast Running.

 

The kick-off party at the Twisted Tuna generated about 76 percent of the needed total.

 

“There’s nothing more magical for a child than waking up on Christmas morning to find a shiny new bicycle underneath the tree and through our efforts we hope 300 children will be able to experience that magic,” said Gene Zweben, Zweben Law Group.

 

A $60 donation to the effort covers the cost of a bike and helmet thanks to a partnership with Beyond Bikes.

 

Donations can be made through Dec. 15 at the United Way website,  www.unitedwaymartin.org/bike.

 

Event sponsors include Zweben Law Group, Martin Health System, Twisted Tuna, Beyond Bikes and Junior League of Martin County.

 

Twisted Tuna owners Rachelle Risley, Kenny Gibbs and Billy Forbes supported the cause by generously providing the exceptional atmosphere and delicious food and drinks at no cost.

 

United Way of Martin County’s White Doves Holiday Project engages the entire community to provide toys for Martin County children in need.

United Way of Martin County is the official coordinating organization for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots in Martin County.
