One of the newest and most successful programs of the Junior League of Martin County has been an annual book drive collecting elementary level books to donate to the schools. First year teachers often find themselves with a shortage of books to stock their classroom libraries.
The Junior League addressed this need by donating over 3,500 books to four Martin County Elementary Schools including:
- Bessey Creek Elementary
- Jensen Beach Elementary
- Felix A. Williams Elementary
- Indiantown Elementary schools
JLMC Volunteers partner with the literacy coaches at each school to ensure that the books provided fit into each grade level and the curriculum. This has been a fantastic partnership that will continue into the future with four new schools receiving books each year.
