Hibiscus House | Foster the Love

Last year's event:

Hibiscus Children’s Center | The JLMC partners with the Hibiscus Children’s Center, an organization dedicated to providing safety for abused, abandoned and neglected children through prevention programs, residential programs, shelter programs, and recovery programs. JLMC members coordinate a fun-filled day of pampering for the kids in February.

For the past several years the Junior League of Martin County has hosted a very special day for the children sheltered at the Hibiscus Children’s Center in Martin County. League Members and other community volunteers have come together in February to give the children a very special Valentine’s Day treat!

Their day starts meeting the volunteers with the Junior League. The children are then divided into small groups where they are led through a series of activities which have included:
  • Motivational crafts
  • Construction projects donated by Lowe’s and Home Depot
  • Sports activities courtesy of Happy Feet
  • Bounce houses
  • Cotton candy
  • Pampering with unique hair styles and mani/pedis
The League members then have lunch with the children to cap off their morning of fun! Each child leaves the event with the crafts they have created and a special treat from the Junior League. This has quickly become one of the most popular volunteer opportunities for the members of the Junior League of Martin County.
